This model goes a step further with Android Open Accessory 2.0 (AOA 2.0), which lets you plug in compatible devices via USB and control music streaming apps like Pandora®. Want more musical options? The front aux input handles just about any other audio source. CD fans, you'll enjoy superb playback of your store-bought and home-burned discs.

Colors that dazzle

This Pioneer puts you in charge of the color wheel with a multi-color, dual-zone display. You can choose one color for the display and another for the buttons, so you'll find thousands of possible combinations. Pioneer's MIXTRAX syncs the audio from many of your sources, adding transitions between songs along with a light show that pulses and changes color with the beat of the music, so you can ramp up the show in your dash when you're in the mood.

The built-in 5-band EQ combines with Pioneer's potent MOSFET amplifier to provide a big boost in sound quality over your factory radio. If you're putting together an audio system in your car, two pairs of preamp outputs make it easier to add external amplifiers or a powered sub.

In most cars, you'll need an adapter to retain those controls with this car stereo.
